Background and purpose: Nutrients from various sources such as agricultural runoff, industrial and municipal wastewater enter surface water and groundwater. The aim of this study was to evaluate nutrients amount (phosphate and nitrate) from the main pollutant sources of Tajan river including fish ponds, antibiotics industry, Paksar, Mazandaran Wood and Paper mill and Sand exploitation factories andresidential wastewater. Method: Photometer instrument for analyzing nutrients was used. To measure sediment, sampling of the upstream and downstream of the workshops was carried out then was continued by sedimentation for 24 hours, draining water and finally drying in temperature of 105 degrees. Finding: Studies have shown that the concentration of suspended solids in the workshops downstream than upstream was increased 0/4 grams/liter averagely. Nitrate concentrations in cold water fish ponds was increased averagely 0.2 mg/liter in the ponds output. Also was estimated 50 kg/day organic phosphorus and 120 kg/day organic nitrogen from household wastewater was located in Sari city and countryside enter directly to Tajan river. Discussion and Conclusion: Obtained results of this study will provide the basis for amount of contaminants entering to Tajan for managers to take appropriate decision of the current situation.
